i did it...

I finally got an iphone!!! I've been waiting for months. I probably shouldn't be spending so much money on such a silly contraption but I'm really, REALLY excited. I'm a little sad I wont get free mobile to mobile with my mom anymore but we'll make it work, somehow... we've just got to!

just some thoughts

  • Riding bikes yesterday with Holly Hansen in the hot Phoenix weather got me WAY EXCITED for summer... Oh how I wish Utah clouds would stop spitting snow on us. I want to say goodbye to my winter coats for good.

  • I think I could eat tacos everyday for the rest of my life and feel really good about it.

  • Also, Capser was on tv last night. How long has it been since you've seen THAT movie??? And why hasn't Christina Ricci been in more movies lately???

  • Also, if I ever happen to get married, remind me NOT to post a status on facebook everyday about how much I love my husband.

there's a lot more thoughts where those came from but I won't bore you to death. hope everyone is having a happy wednesday...

xoxo,
jc

happy easter

Yesterday Holly, Megan, and their mom Cindy invited me to go with them to the Carl Bloch exhibit at the BYU Museum of Art. His paintings were all beautiful and it was so cool to see them this Easter weekend. I love Easter because it always comes on or around General Conference and its nice to have so many reminders of why all of us really are here. Its easy to get caught up in the mundane activities of life, but if we center our lives on Christ we will experience more joy than we thought possible. A lot of times I tell myself I am too busy to do the little things... but I think its the little things that make our lives simple. If we clear our heads each day and invite the spirit into our lives through scripture study and prayer, we will become happier and more productive, and grow closer to becoming the person we were meant to become. I have a long ways to go, and a lot to work on but I am so grateful for my knowledge of the Gospel, for the love and sacrifice of our Savior, and for the opportunity we all have to repent and return to live with our Heavenly Father again, someday.

Behold, I am Jesus Christ, whom the prophets testified shall come into the world.

And behold, I am the light and the life of the world; and I have drunk out of that bitter cup which the Father hath given me, and have glorified the Father in taking upon me the sins of the world, in the which I have suffered the will of the Father in all things from the beginning.

Arise and come forth unto me, that ye may thrust your hands into my side, and also that ye may feel the prints of the nails in my hands and in my feet, that ye may know that I am the God of Israel and the God of the whole earth, and have been slain for the sins of the world.
(3 Nephi 11:10-14)

So, I got to spend the day with these lovely ladies today

...and it was so much fun! We went to the Flake wedding reception which was at an amazing house up Hobble Creek Canyon in Spanish Fork. It was beautiful and so fun to see Troy and Brooke (again) and meet up with some old friends from Provo.

AMAZING

So, my good friend Spencer Starley invited me out to Oakland on Thursday to see Mumford and Sons!!! They played with Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros and Old Crow Medicine Show... and it was pretty much one of the greatest shows I have seen. Seriously, amazing. It was in the middle of a shipyard in Oakland, right next to the bay overlooking downtown San Francisco. There were so many people there... and the music was SO good. It was almost magical. I loved everything about it.

phoenix

I've been able to go to Phoenix a couple of times in the last month or so... the first time was just for fun and the second time was for work... I had two overnights there twice in a row! So I was pretty much the luckiest girl ever and got to hang out with Holly again!

She picked me up from the airport and we had plenty of fun running errands and hanging out. We went to dinner at this really good restaurant. I wish I could remember the name, but we got spinach artichoke dip and grilled cheese with bacon and apples. It was amazing and we ate our little hearts out.

Holly had plans the second day I was there, so I decided to go on a walk. The hotel we stay at is by ASU and for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to walk to the temple (I had heard there was a really good photo gallery at the visitor's center)... Well, the temple is 5 miles away from where I was staying, but the irrational girl inside of me thought that it wouldn't be a problem. Plus, about a block away was the light rail and I thought for sure it would take me all the way to downtown Mesa. I was wrong. It went for a few miles, but where it ended and I started walking, had to be THE most ghetto part of Mesa. But I had already gone too far, and I couldn't turn back. I was determined. So I'm walking down Apache Blvd, and 7 cars honk at me, 3 creepy men pull over to ask me if I need a ride, and two cop cars drive by... both times the officers looked at me strangely as they thought to themselves, "What in the world is that girl doing???" Anyhow, after walking for what seemed like hours, I made it to the temple. It was getting dark and I was laughing at myself because I had forgotten to think about the fact that the visitors center was probably closed. Anyway, I walk closer, and I hear angelic music coming from the park next to the temple. There were herds of people walking towards it... so, naturally, I went to see what all this business was about. Turns out Mesa was having its annual Easter Pageant of Jesus the Christ... and I had gotten there just in time. So I found myself a seat way up front (which is easy to do when you are by yourself) and watched one of the coolest Easter productions I have ever seen. Anyway, I took a cab back and made it home safe and sound. But I was glad to have survived my little adventure.

finally

So these are my girlfriends from freshman year at BYU... Jessica had been trying to get us all together for weeks, but with everyone's busy schedules it was next to impossible... But we finally made it happen. We went to Vinto for dinner (which is WAY good) and then to heather's parents for dessert. It had been years since we had all hung out and it was so fun to finally catch up!

B & T Flake

I went to DC last weekend for Brooke and Troy's wedding and it was awesome. My flight got in a few hours before Holly and Jess', so I wandered around DC and took some pictures. DC is rad.

Friday was Brooke and Troy's wedding and it was amazing. (We were all in the same ward my last year of BYU... so I was able to see the two of them from the beginning. It was so great to see them finally tie the knot!) Brooke looked beautiful as always, and I've never seen a couple more in love. They got married in the DC temple and had their reception at a mansion in Baltimore. It was all pretty great, and it was so much fun hanging out with Holly and Jess.

remember when i almost died??!

Okay, so maybe i'm being a little dramatic... but there were A LOT of things that could have gone VERY VERY wrong this morning that would have resulted in some serious injuries.

I was driving up to Park City this morning with my friend Pam to go snowboarding, when all of the sudden this HUGE sheet of ice slid off the roof of the diesel truck driving in front of us.... And i'm talking huge, like the size of a door... so, I try to shift into the other lane to avoid getting hit, when all of the sudden, WHAM, ice and glass everywhere. Pam and I were both in shock. I pull over to the side of the road, put the car and park, and look at Pam... we are both shaking, covered in glass, thinking to ourselves, "what the heck just happened?"

Luckily neither one of us were hurt... but the highway patrol guy who helped us said that 5 min before they saw us, he and his partner had been talking about a kid in Logan that got killed from the same thing a year ago, and they thought we were for sure going to be goners. The ice hit the top of my car and dented the roof a little bit, so maybe that saved us from getting our heads cut off... I don't know, but it scares me just to think about it. SO CRAZY Someone must have been watching out for us...

I'm just really happy to be alive.
(and maybe a little sad my powder day got ruined)
