wilderness

This past week i went on a camping trip with work. (I am working at a treatment center for adolescent girls with substance dependency and we take them on a wilderness trek about once a month). This was my first time going and my first time to San Rafael Swell, in west central Utah. It is beautiful down there! We had so much fun. An 8 mile hike, 14 mile bike ride, awesome food, and tons of fun. I got to know the girls a lot better too, which is always good. Those girls have been through a lot of really terrible stuff and I learn so much from them everyday.

(also, one of the directors brought his dog, Captain. I am NOT a dog person, but I was loving this guy. so cute huh!)

arts and crafts

last night jeremy and i spray painted some shirts.
this is how mine turned out.
it was pretty ugly at first, but with some suggestions by mr. moncur, it turned out to be pretty cool...
(you kind of want one, don't you)

why do we love trips to california??

every time i go home to california, i ask my self one very important
question: "what the heck am i doing, living in utah??"

this past weekend jeremy and i went down to california and it was super fun. we spent a couple of days in la jolla, saw some friends (jeremy went surfing)...then spent some time with the family for Ellie and Duane's birthday. i was super sad to come back, but i only have 2 more months of this place and then i am d.o.n.e.

the subie-rubie wagon made the trip like a champ...

lindsay, jeremy, and i went to mission for a bit
(so sad i missed you rachel)

ellie had a birthday!
happy birthday baby girl!and duane did too...
(can you believe this guy is 40?!)

and samantha was loving the cupcakes
...

and what is a party at the foster's without a slip-n-slide?

this weekend went way too fast, but it was fun to see everyone!
i miss you guys already

happy mothers day

dear mom,
here are some reasons why i love you....
you see humor in everything. you listen to my nonesense daily. you think of others more than yourself. you would give up everything for your family. you have an amazing laugh. you've supported me in all my decisions. you are forgiving. you are an amazing example. and most of all....you love me no matter what!

there are a million more reasons why i love you ... but basically you are the best mom ever. i love you!!! and happy mother's day!!!

quote for the day...

"I do not belive that sheer suffering teaches. If suffering along taught, all the world would be wise, since everyone suffers. To suffering must be added mourning, understanding, patience, love, openness, and the willingness to remain vulnerable." - Anne Morrow Lindberg (Time, 5 Feb 1973)
