Lately

I never seem to remember to take pictures often enough to post very often so here are a few from the last couple of months... In October I was able to take a much needed trip back to California for my niece's baptism.  I hadn't been home since last Christmas...  10 long months.  I think that is the longest I have ever been in Utah without a trip back home.   It was so fun to be able to go to Charley's baptism and hang out with my family for a few days...  My mom and I even managed to squeeze in a trip to the beach, which was also long overdue.

Also,  Chris has been playing a lot of disc golf lately.  I'm not a huge fan of the sport but I did go with him a few weeks back and I'm glad I did because I got to witness his hole in one.  For those of you who are not familiar with disc golf... a hole in one is a pretty big deal.  On that particular hole, you can't even see the basket from where you throw... but when Chris threw, we all heard the chains clink and sure enough he'd gotten an ace.  His buddies that we were with handed him a permanent marker to record it and they all signed the disc he threw.  Needless to say, Chris was pretty ecstatic.

Also... My mom and dad came to town for my dad's birthday.  We had dinner at Chris and Mikelle's that day and in the Foster home you get to blow out a candle at every meal... so this is my dad blowing out the candle from his pizza.
That Monday I took a day off work to hang out with my parents... we went to up to Salt Lake for some shopping, lunch at the garden room, and a nice stroll through Memory Grove...  which was super fitting since it was Veterans Day.  It was perfect weather and so nice to have the day off to spend with family.

Temple Square is one of my favorite things about Utah.  I feel pretty lucky to live in such a beautiful place and its especially nice to be able to enjoy the place where I live with people I love.

Chris' Birthday Weekend

For Chris' birthday (back in August) we went on on a camping trip to Island Lake with some friends. It is an awesome easy hike and the lake is beautiful.

Island Lake.  That cliff in the center is about 40 ft and you can cliff jump off of it, but the weather was too cold for us.

Chris and Neal got in for a second but it was freezing.
This picture is a bit deceiving because I kind of hate fishing and Chris was the one who fished most of this trip... but this is just to prove I was there and that I do attempt to fish every once in a while :)

We didn't have a cake so we improvised.  Ha!!  Happy 31st to my favorite human.  I can't imagine life without him.

Summer

I haven't blogged much at all this summer, but here are the some random pictures of things we did... I'm pretty sad that summer is over, but fall should be pretty nice.
Found me a bike and rode the trail by our house a few times...

Floated down the Provo River with some friends and their kids

This is at Jelissa and Kevin's wedding reception... the weekend of our 1 year wedding anniversary

That is Chris fishing out there... we did that quite a bit this summer.  I mostly just watched :)

Finally visited Hogle Zoo

And we got the biggest funnel cake we could find at the county fair...

Payson Salmon Fry

Chris heard from a co-worker about the annual Salmon Fry in Payson.  The firefighters fly in thousands of pound of fresh salmon from Alaska and have a huge salmon fry with live music for anyone who wants to join.  We decided to try it out, so we drove south and when we got there the line wrapped around the ENTIRE park...  I was sure that they were going to run out of Salmon by the time we got to the front of the line.  We waited TWO and a HALF HOURS for that salmon... and if you were to ask Chris, he'd tell you it was totally worth it.  I'm not a huge salmon fan but it was quite the experience and pretty darn good.

Family

Chris' parents and Amanda spent their vacation in Park City this summer and it was so fun to hang out with them while they were here.  We did the coaster at Park City Resort, played miniature golf, disk golf at Solitude, visited upper Provo falls and mirror lake, ate lots of good food, and had a real good time.

Olympic Park...  This jump seems SO much bigger when you are looking at it from the top.
I was up for disk golf for about 3 holes... but the grass was super long and I decided I didn't want to spend the whole afternoon looking for my disk.  Chris and Richard had a good time though and Amanda, Jane and I were their lookouts for most of the time.  It is a super pretty course though and it was nice to be outside walking around.

Camping

One reason I love Utah:  You can go camping in beautiful mountains next to amazing rivers and lakes... and only be an hour and a half from home.  I'm not sure how I have lived in Utah for so long and never known about the upper Provo river falls.  They are awesome.  We went camping and fishing in the Uintas and stopped by the falls on the way home.  I decided I wasn't much of a fisher on this trip... I have yet to catch a single fish.  But I'm glad Chris loves it.

Chris thought it was funny to take awful pictures of me that morning.  This was the only one where I don't look like a total monster.  But he has the worst one on his lock screen on his phone... He thinks he's real funny.

Fourth of July

My mom is probably the coolest grandma ever.  She does grandma's camp every summer for all the kids who are old enough to spend a few days away from mom and dad.  This year she decided to do it in Utah over the 4th of July holiday.  Which meant, I got to see my cute nieces and nephews and spend some time with my siblings and parents.  My parents camped up AF canyon at Granite Flats... they took the kids to Timp Cave (Chris went too) and did lots of fun things up the canyon.  They came down for the 4th of July and we lit fireworks in Chris' back yard... and then went swimming in Lindon the next day.  I didn't take too many pictures, but it was so nice to have family around.

Fiiishing

Chris also worked on his own project this summer.  He had started building his own fly rods a while ago, and finally finished them this summer.  He did a great job and was able to go fishing quite a bit.  When they were finished we decided to hike up to Silver Lake in AF canyon and test them out.  The hike was beautiful and so was the lake.  We hiked later in the evening so we only stayed for about 45 minutes, but the fish were biting like crazy and Chris caught about 5 or 6 while we were there.
