baby benson

I finally got to meet baby benson. How cute is this little guy!?! He was born on Dec. 22, and Chris and Mikelle are now proud parents of four. Aren't little babies are the sweetest?

SHARK ATTACK!!!

IMG_2811
So, along with my obsession with robots, I also love sharks... I got this idea in my head to make shark mittens for a friend for Christmas, and this is what I came up with. I'm pretty dang proud of them. I probably should've made some for myself. Anyway, I just wanted to show them off... Hope you all have a Sharktastic Christmas!

San Francisco

I got to spend a couple of days in San Francisco last week for work. The airport was madness and it was actually a pretty frustrating weekend, but I got to see my friend Spencer and it made it all worth it. He was nice enough to take us to Union square, which was BEAUTIFUL. I seriously love the Christmas season. I think it makes everything seem a little bit more magical. Anyway, we walked around a bit, went shopping, and then ate the most amazing burger ever. It was FANTASTIC!!!!

tea for two and two for tea

I've been really into tea lately... There's nothing like a hot chamomile citrus tea to warm you up on a cold wintery night. And the cafe across the street from my house gives you the BIGGEST mug you'll ever see in your life. I love it.

December!!!!

I LOVE the month of December.

Especially in Salt Lake City. Growing up in sunny California was fantastic, don't get me wrong... but something about the cold air and change of seasons during the holidays just really makes a difference. The other night some friends and I went to Bonneville Park for a live nativity they were doing, and it was AWESOME! they had the walkway all lit up with candles, and people dressed up like they were from Bethlehem... and a real live baby Jesus. It was pretty neat. We even got to see a camel, a yak, and the cutest donkey i've ever seen. Oh and we also found Christmas Street! The whole thing was decorated with Christmas lights. I heart the Holidays.

round TWO!

I got to go to hawaii again this month... I LOVE MY JOB!
and I love being able to hang out with erin jane whenever I want.

Jane fell in love with this adorable puppy while we were at Sunset Beach. Conor and I practically had to use physical force to keep her from stealing the little guy. But really, who could blame her??

It was fun being able to visit laie again... My pasty skin got to see the sun for a couple of days, i got to see a few old friends and catch up, went swimming at turtle bay, jumped off the rock at waimea, and did arts and crafts with jane and friends.

it couldn't have been any lovelier

also, for those of you in hawaii that read this thing... you should probably go to Ono Yo in kahuku. It was SO GOOD! (or maybe it was the fact that I could eat frozen yogurt outside in shorts and a tank with out FREEZING my arce off that made it so good). Either way, it was a treat! And the owner will explain in detail everything you need to know about frozen yogurt. its fantastic.

thanks again jane and conor!

from minnie to memphis

So, last week I was on a trip... I went to Minneapolis, Memphis, and Madison... It was my first time to all three of those places and it was actually really fun (other than the High of 22 degrees!!!). My roommate Sarah was in Minneapolis that day too... So we went to the Mall of America and rode the CRAZIEST roller coaster! and We found a SHARK!!! from the aquarium. It was Awesome.

In Memphis the other flight attendant and I went to BEALE Street and then saw the ducks at the Peabody hotel. They make a big to-do about these ducks that come out of the elevator and then swim around this fountain. Its kind of funny what people get excited about.

Oh! and my favorite part was in the Minneapolis Airport last Saturday! Delta had a special event going on for underprivileged kids... a flight to the NORTH POLE!!! It was the cutest thing ever, they even had it on the gate information screen. So of course we had to take a picture! (and a picture of snoopy too... I mean, we were at that airport for FOUR HOURS!!! we were BORED!)

thanksgiving

happy thanksgiving everyone. hope you enjoyed your turkey and pie. thanksgiving this year was a little different for me. I spent it flying over most of the western united states serving people "complimentary coca-cola products, coffee, tea, and juices." i started the day at 3:30 am when i woke up to my freezing cold apartment in salt lake. then i flew to los angeles, palm springs, denver, and finally finished in bakersfield at 5 o'clock this evening. it actually wasn't too bad, to be honest. on my way to L.A. i met a family who was going to Hong Kong to pick up a baby girl they were adopting, and someone on my palm springs flight was on his way to propose to his girlfriend of 2 1/2 years. i thought both of those stories were pretty awesome.

i also had a man on my last flight drink about 8 cups of coffee during the 2 hours we were in the air. drinking that much coffee in two hours is pretty amazing in and of itself... but the fact that he didn't once use the restroom was mind boggling. then towards the end of the flight he borrowed my pen and returned it to me wrapped in a napkin with his phone number. perhaps there was a method to his coffee madness... too bad he was 45 and totally not my type.

working as a flight attendant on a holiday does have its benefits though... including the pleasant mood of all the passengers. especially on thanksgiving. I mean how can you be angry on a day that is supposed to remind you of all that is good in life... and it makes my job a lot easier when people aren't so grumpy. one sweet old man even gave me a giant cookie. i mean, if you want to win the key to a girls heart, give her a giant cookie. maybe coffee man could learn a few tricks from the old man.

i also got to eat a nice turkey dinner with my crew... two grumpy old pilots whom i barely knew. they are actually both quite nice, but one of them proceeded to talk my ear off for a solid hour and a half. i mean, the man wouldn't shut up. i can now tell you in detail the history of the SkyWest company, how the west was settled, every plane the man has ever flown, and every possible highway that stretches between Denver and Salt Lake. i almost started screaming by the end of it. i'm sure he meant well, but i'll remember to stay in my hotel room next time...

all in all, it was a good day though... i'm grateful to have a job and a house to go home to. i'm grateful for family and friends who love me and take care of me. i'm grateful for my health and the health of my loved ones. i'm grateful for the beauty that surrounds us each day. i'm grateful for heaters and hot showers and blankets on my comfortable bed (can you tell i've been cold lately???) i'm grateful for the chatty pilot who bought my dinner tonight and taught me so many things through his detailed story telling. i'm grateful for the man who gave me a cookie. i'm grateful for the ocean. and for the sun. and for chocolate and all delicious food. i'm grateful for the experiences i've had and for the things i am learning. i'm grateful for the gospel and the happiness it brings to my life. i'm grateful for a loving father in heaven and a savior who died for us all. and i'm grateful for this holiday season to remind us what life is all about...

i hope you all had a fabulous thanksgiving. happy holidays to you all.

Velzy Bell

Last Sunday I was able to go to San Diego to visit Jennilee and meet little miss Velzy Bell for the first time! And let me just tell you, she is adorable. Velzy was born on the 26th of October, and was blessed this last Sunday. Jellie has some better picures on her blog, but here are a few I took. and I had to throw in one picture of Velzy wearing the robot shirt I made her. I love robots... and hopefully Velzy will too.

Thanks for making me acai bowls and eating haleiwa eats with me.
Thanks for letting me use your surf board and thanks for taking me to sunset beach and waimea.
Oh, and most importantly, thanks for making my blog look so darn cute.
Love you lots boobie. You are the best.

san diego

So, I decided I need to use my flight benefits at least once a month to make this whole flight attendant thing worth it. I mean, if I'm going to be making as much money as a junior in high school working at McDonald's, I might as well get some good trips out of the deal, right???

So far I've been to Portland and Atlanta... and I decided this month should be San Diego. I got to see Jennilee for a bit (who, by the way, had her beautiful baby Velzy yesterday!) and I met up with some of my other girl friends, Jess, Holly, and Megan.

My weekend consisted of VG donuts with the girls, meeting up with my lovely mother in Anaheim for a day of shopping, in-n-out (holls, i was really looking forward to sushi deli with you...), and a bike ride along the boardwalk at mission beach. It was almost perfect.

Leaving San Diego is usually a pretty difficult task for me emotionally, but I decided Salt Lake isn't going to be too bad... especially if I can leave whenever my little heart desires.

Got myself a library card today... and I'm real excited about it.

9.28.2010

oh gosh, where to begin...

a lot has changed since i last wrote... i'm not very good at keeping this thing updated, but for those few and far between that read this, here's an update on my life:

i am now an official flight attendant. ha! i was never planning on having such a profession, but somehow i've found myself on an airplane for the last four days serving peanuts and beverages to complete strangers. weird. this is a picture of me and my roommate from training.

also, i've been able to use my flight benefits a bit... starting off by going to my best friend's wedding in portland. jane married conor and they are the luckiest and cutest couple ever. their wedding reception was amazing (both in portland and in san diego)... jane is always really good at whatever she does and the party was just about as beautiful as the bride.

i also got to stay in portland for a couple of days with my friends ashley and karly... we went to the omsi and took a submarine tour, and watched the imax hubble movie (which was amazing by the way), went to the rose garden, ate amazing food, took a visit to voodoo donuts, and made it to the farmers market. pretty much a great weekend in an even greater city.

after that i was able to go down to san diego for jane and conor's open house and to hang out with my bestie jennilee... jenilee is super cute and about to have baby number two... i can't even wait. also went out to atlanta for a total of 48 hours to visit trevor and roxanne and their babes. keller and lila are seriously the cutest things ever. keller just learned how to start riding his bike without training wheels and was already trying to find jumps he could hit. pretty freaking rad for an almost 4 year old.

also, i am no longer a nomad!! i signed a lease for an apartment in the avenues of slc... and it is so nice to not have to live out of my car anymore!! i'll be here for at least a year if all goes as planned... however, i'm learning that NOTHING ever goes as planned.

but, for now i am settled, employed, healthy and happy...

7.22.2010

my girls

i got to visit san diego this week for jane's bridal shower and to see jennilee....
i just love these girls and i can't wait for baby velzy to come!

salt lake city arts fest is one of my most favorite summertime activities up here. it happened a few weeks ago, but i'm a little behind on my blog posts... i went with my friend jess and we loved every second of it.
