I'm ENGAGED!

I've always loved San Francisco, but this past weekend made me love that city even more.  The whole weekend was pretty much a dream.  Chris and I went out to see Bon Iver in concert with my dear friend Holly and we had ourselves a GOOD TIME.  Bon Iver is one of my favorite musicians and I definitely wasn't disappointed.  The show was magical.  I might of had goose bumps the entire time.  I would have been one happy camper if the best part of my weekend was that show, but the trip just kept getting better and better.  The weather was awesome, the company was great, and I ended up coming home an ENGAGED woman.  I know... CRAZY, right?!
Prior to San Francisco, I had been trying to get information out of Chris for a while... I can NOT handle secrets and not knowing when he was going to pop the question was a little too much for me to handle.  I had an inkling that he was going to propose over the weekend but I promised myself I wouldn't try to ruin the surprise.  In fact, I tried not to think about it at all.
Holly went hiking with a friend on Friday so that left Chris and I with a whole day all to ourselves.  Just me and my main squeeze hanging out in San Fran... It was great.  We rented bikes and rode across the Golden Gate Bridge, took the ferry across the bay, watched some pretty entertaining street performers, and ate fish and chips at fisherman's wharf.
The day was pretty much perfect, minus the fact that I wasn't feeling too well... but the sun, smell of the ocean, and not to mention the cutest boy I've ever seen were a good distraction from the pain.  We were both having a really good time riding along the bay with the sun and wind in our faces... But just as I was starting to feel pretty fancy on my bike, my front tire got caught in an old trolly track and I flew over my bike handles and landed on all fours.  Chris, bless his heart, didn't even laugh at me until he knew I was okay and heard me laughing at myself.  I was fine... I just had to sit there for a minute before I got up with my bloody knees and a bruised ego.
Chris fixed my bike for me and we went on our way, back to return the bikes.  I was much more cautious this time around... the sun in my face was still nice, but that wind just made my knees sting, and all of the sudden all I could think about was that stupid bike accident, my hurting stomach, and how we still had MILES to walk before we got back to my friend Spencer's house.  A proposal was definitely the LAST thing on my mind.

The bike shop was right across the street from the bay... so Chris suggested we walk along the beach for a bit, to take a break before our long walk back.  It was BEAUTIFUL... with the bridge to our left, Alcatraz to our right, and the city glowing behind us from the setting sun, you couldn't have asked ask for a more perfect moment...  And that's when it happened... The boy of my dreams asked me to marry him... and I said YES.  He pulled out the most beautiful ring and slid it on my ring finger... and we were... OFFICIALLY... engaged.

After I said yes, I kissed that boy's face, he gave me a huge hug, and then we both did a high kick.  I was the happiest I've ever been...  All of the sudden my not so great day turned into one of the best of my life.  Funny how that happens, huh.
I seriously love this boy and I am so excited to start my life with him.  I think I might be the luckiest girl on the planet.  I still can't believe that WE ARE ENGAGED!!!!
.....

Also, the next day, Spencer, Holly, Chris, and I drove up the coast a bit and went on an incredible hike to one of the few waterfalls in California that goes right into the ocean.  It was beautiful.
Holly and Spence are some of my favorite people.  The four of us had a really good time, especially during the 5 hours of traffic we hit on our way back to the city.  Thank you Spencer for letting us stay at your house and taking such good care of us.  Holly, thanks for the laughs and entertainment.... and Chris, thanks for making me the happiest girl in the world.

St. Louis

Chris and I went to St. Louis last week and it was AWESOME.  Who knew the Midwest was so fun?  There are so many cool places to visit, the weather is beautiful, the architecture is awesome, not to mention there are some pretty neat people... We hung out with Chris' family and I was thoroughly entertained the whole weekend.  I had a blast.   We got to see Amanda in her school play, we went to the Zoo, ate really good food, played disc golf (which I found out I am terrible at), played games, and visited the arch.  I even got to touch the Mississippi River.  We were having so much fun the weekend flew by WAY too fast...  but I'm sure we'll get to visit again real soon!

I think this is about how Chris and I feel about our trip... and about our lives... We are the LUCKIEST!

The City Museum

Chris took me to the coolest museum in St. Louis last week.  I was loving every minute of it.  I felt like a kid again.  Just imagine a giant jungle gym attached to the outside of an old factory with slides and tunnels connecting huge towers and old hollowed out airplanes.  Inside the museum they had MORE slides (including one that was 10 stories high) and a basement that mimics caves with tiny crawlspaces and EVEN MORE slides.  I would go there everyday if I could.
