thanksgiving
happy thanksgiving everyone. hope you enjoyed your turkey and pie. thanksgiving this year was a little different for me. I spent it flying over most of the western united states serving people "complimentary coca-cola products, coffee, tea, and juices." i started the day at 3:30 am when i woke up to my freezing cold apartment in salt lake. then i flew to los angeles, palm springs, denver, and finally finished in bakersfield at 5 o'clock this evening. it actually wasn't too bad, to be honest. on my way to L.A. i met a family who was going to Hong Kong to pick up a baby girl they were adopting, and someone on my palm springs flight was on his way to propose to his girlfriend of 2 1/2 years. i thought both of those stories were pretty awesome.
i also had a man on my last flight drink about 8 cups of coffee during the 2 hours we were in the air. drinking that much coffee in two hours is pretty amazing in and of itself... but the fact that he didn't once use the restroom was mind boggling. then towards the end of the flight he borrowed my pen and returned it to me wrapped in a napkin with his phone number. perhaps there was a method to his coffee madness... too bad he was 45 and totally not my type.
working as a flight attendant on a holiday does have its benefits though... including the pleasant mood of all the passengers. especially on thanksgiving. I mean how can you be angry on a day that is supposed to remind you of all that is good in life... and it makes my job a lot easier when people aren't so grumpy. one sweet old man even gave me a giant cookie. i mean, if you want to win the key to a girls heart, give her a giant cookie. maybe coffee man could learn a few tricks from the old man.
i also got to eat a nice turkey dinner with my crew... two grumpy old pilots whom i barely knew. they are actually both quite nice, but one of them proceeded to talk my ear off for a solid hour and a half. i mean, the man wouldn't shut up. i can now tell you in detail the history of the SkyWest company, how the west was settled, every plane the man has ever flown, and every possible highway that stretches between Denver and Salt Lake. i almost started screaming by the end of it. i'm sure he meant well, but i'll remember to stay in my hotel room next time...
all in all, it was a good day though... i'm grateful to have a job and a house to go home to. i'm grateful for family and friends who love me and take care of me. i'm grateful for my health and the health of my loved ones. i'm grateful for the beauty that surrounds us each day. i'm grateful for heaters and hot showers and blankets on my comfortable bed (can you tell i've been cold lately???) i'm grateful for the chatty pilot who bought my dinner tonight and taught me so many things through his detailed story telling. i'm grateful for the man who gave me a cookie. i'm grateful for the ocean. and for the sun. and for chocolate and all delicious food. i'm grateful for the experiences i've had and for the things i am learning. i'm grateful for the gospel and the happiness it brings to my life. i'm grateful for a loving father in heaven and a savior who died for us all. and i'm grateful for this holiday season to remind us what life is all about...
i hope you all had a fabulous thanksgiving. happy holidays to you all.

Velzy Bell
Last Sunday I was able to go to San Diego to visit Jennilee and meet little miss Velzy Bell for the first time! And let me just tell you, she is adorable. Velzy was born on the 26th of October, and was blessed this last Sunday. Jellie has some better picures on her blog, but here are a few I took. and I had to throw in one picture of Velzy wearing the robot shirt I made her. I love robots... and hopefully Velzy will too.
